My Abundant Life

Down in the valley I was walking

Looking up at the mountains that were looming

Succumbed to the cowardice in my own being

‘Beware of lofty dreams’ said I to myself consoling.

Parched and hungry I was wandering

Looking around the desert that was intimidating

Yielded to the mirage in my own sighting

‘Had no choice’ said I to myself reassuring.

Tossed about while I was sailing

Looking at the tempest that was roaring

Drowned in the sea of my own doubting

‘Tried but failed’ said I to myself surrendering.

Undecided at the crossroads I was standing

Looking in the four directions that were confusing

Scurried to the most attractive path of my own choosing

‘Best decision ever made’ said I to myself patting.

Reached the top of a mountain I was scaling

Looking around felt it was deserving

Achieved the goal of my own making

‘Well done’ said I to myself congratulating.

With the king of birds I was soaring

Looking down at everything that was diminishing

Realized that nothing in life was worth worrying

‘All will pass away’ said I to myself refocusing.

Enough, Lord, enough I said kneeling

For Your presence with me is comforting

Journeyed through life that was abounding

‘He is with me’ said I to myself Him beholding.

A Faithful Friend

Green as the greenest valley could be

Rewards of your sweat and toil a plenty

Discontent if you are amidst bounty

While reminiscing all seems unworthy.

Friendly as the friendliest person could be

Poured your heart out for their intimacy

Disappointed if you are amongst family

A broken heart is thy reward repeatedly.

Bleak as the bleakest desert could be

Void of everything you considered worthy

Futile if you are pursuing myopically

Something that does not satisfy thee.

Faithful than a faithful friend could be

True to His promises in uncertainty

Closer than a closest relation could be

Is thy Redeemer Jesus ultimately.

Inane as the life pursuits could be

When everything is meaningless and empty

With all thy heart seek Him reverently

Till you see Him face to face in eternity.
